Executive Summary
Quest Software needed Delphi, COM, and Oracle expertise to bring its latest version of 'Space Manager' for Oracle to Market.  Micro Database Specialists provided resources that fit into Quest Software's development team to accelerate development while adding additional features to this core product.

The Challenge
Quest software is the world leader in Oracle tools.  Their Toad, SQL-Navigator, and Space Manager products are so effective that they are required purchases for the IS departments of Oracle shops of any significant size.

Ranked 5th in the Forbes Dynamic 100 Software Elite, Quest was rapidly growing it's knowledge into system and web monitoring tools, as well as extending it's database experience into DB2 and Microsoft databases.  However, this growth created a critical shortage in people who had the experience and ability to write world-class software to upgrade their existing product base.

Quest called Micro Database Specialists searching for help in upgrading their 'Space Manager' product and convert it from it's dated Powerbuilder/Windows 3.1 interface to a more current Delphi based application.  The new version of the product had to retain all the functionality of the previous version, while extending it's abilities, operating on all new versions of Oracle (3 new Oracle versions had been released since the old product's debut), and provide all this new functionality with the same speed of execution.

Micro Database Specialists responded with internal programming and consulting services, managing and coding significant portions of the product.  When interoperability with other Quest products was requested, we coordinated development of COM interfaces with Quest programming teams in Israel and Australia.  MDSI also contributed to product management and marketing groups through management consulting services that got Quest more product visibility at unheard of costs.

Results
Quest Software received an updated version of Space Manager with a dramatically increased feature count, at a significantly accelerated timeframe.  Micro Database Specialists worked with Quest team members on a daily basis to make this happen, and Quest continues to be one of the most successful software houses in the world, expanding their successes from Oracle to system monitoring and other applications.
